The CERT®(Computer Emergency Response Team) Coordination Center <– Software Engineering Institute <– Carnegie Mellon University <– Department of Defense. They alert users to potential threats to the security of their systems and provide information about how to avoid, minimize, detect, or recover from the damage .
NIST-CSRC Virus Alert Information Center :-
CSRC(Computer Security Resource Center) <– ITL(Information Technology Laboratory) <– NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology) <– Technology Administration <– U.S. Commerce Department. They raise awareness of IT risks, vulnerabilities and protection requirements. They develope standards, metrics, tests and validation programs.
   

General Precaution :-
Before you install/use any downloaded software/files/etc, you should have Anti-Virus guard/protection software installed in your computer. Use these Ftp programs to resume broken or big download. Use firewall software to stop hackers. To stop spying and trojan software, use Anti-Spyware guard and cleaning software.
